The Golden Age of Athens

Students learned about the achievements made during the Golden Age of Athens by completing station activities. They visited the Temple of Apollo at Delphi and learned about Greek myths. They visited the Parthenon and created their own piece of Greek architecture. They preformed and analyzed a portion of, “Antigone”. They held a “Socratic chat” with Greek philosophers, and discussed their opinions. They compared and contrasted Greek and Egyptian sculptural styling. Lastly, they participated in a “javelin” and long jump competition in the Panathenaic  games.

Students created metaphorical representations to explain abstract historical concepts or ideas… These represent the global , societal changes that occurred in the early 1900s.
